The Princess Royal Training Awards are held every year to honour employers who have created outstanding training and skills development programmes which have resulted in exceptional benefits. The awards are delivered by the City & Guilds Foundation and are supported by their President, HRH The Princess Royal.
This prestigious award acknowledges our clinical development programme for physiotherapists which arms them with the skills and knowledge required to provide exceptional patient care.
Every Ascenti physiotherapist has access to the programme where different topics and themes are covered throughout the year as part of a 12-week training cycle. Training is delivered by a large national team of Clinical Mentors, Physiotherapy Development Leads (PDLs) and Area Managers, who conduct group sessions, one-to-one training, observed practice, webinars and virtual group meetings. Physios also have access to a bespoke e-learning platform to complete interactive online modules, and time for independent self-directed learning.
The programme is aligned to our bespoke Knowledge and Skills Framework (KSF) made up of 20 competencies that physiotherapists must demonstrate in order to progress at annual promotion windows. Physios have weekly ring-fenced paid CPD (continued professional development) time that enables them to take part in training cycle activities and build their portfolio.
Ascenti has built a strong reputation for investing in the training and development of its physiotherapists and our programme has now been given a royal stamp of approval.
CEO of Ascenti, Stephanie Dobrikova, commented: “We are absolutely delighted that our clinical development programme has been recognised with this prestigious award. Half of my colleagues on our Executive Team are qualified physiotherapists by background and we all view the continued development of our clinicians as integral to our success as a healthcare company.
“Thank you to City & Guilds for this huge honour and congratulations to everyone within Ascenti who is involved in delivering the programme.”
Kirstie Donnelly MBE, Chief Executive of City & Guilds said: “It's encouraging to see such a diverse range of healthcare employers continuing to apply for a Princess Royal Training Award. As skills shortages and job vacancies rise, investing in training and development can help to increase productivity and harness and retain talent for future growth.
“These organisations exemplify the transformative power of investing in people, and we are honoured to celebrate their accomplishments.”
Ascenti was previously recognised for its training function in 2019 when it was awarded the LaingBuisson Award for Excellence in Training and the Skills for Health 'Our Health Heroes' award for Learning & Development Team of the Year.
We are proud to have been recognised alongside prominent employers including Pret, Royal Mail, IBM and Hays, who we will be joining at an awards ceremony hosted at one of the royal residences in late November.
