Debbie was one of the first five applicants in the country, across the allied health professions, to achieve the new digital badge, and is therefore one of very few physiotherapists to have gained Stage 3 accreditation through this route.
APPs work at an advanced level across the four pillars of practice – clinical, leadership and management, education, and research. Debbie has been working at this level for many years, but is now officially accredited by the Centre for Advancing Practice, meaning she has demonstrated the capabilities and standards set out in the Health Education England (HEE) multi-professional framework for advanced clinical practice.
As a Consultant Physiotherapist at Ascenti, Debbie supports our team of Advanced Physiotherapy Practitioners (APPs) and First Contact Practitioners (FCPs) who deliver advanced services on behalf of our NHS and private medical insurance (PMI) partners.
She has also played an instrumental role in shaping and delivering our APP FCP development pathway, which enables senior physiotherapists at Ascenti to qualify as an APP or progress into an FCP role.
Day-to-day Debbie supports our clinical teams to deliver the highest standards of patient care, leading weekly team meetings and complex case conferences, and providing one-to-one support to senior clinicians who are building their portfolio of evidence to demonstrate advanced practice competencies.
Following a year of hard work, submissions and assessments, Debbie has now completed the e-portfolio route. This means she is exceptionally well-placed to support the team of experienced APPs within Ascenti to work towards and attain Stage 3 accreditation.
Debbie commented: "I’ve developed a deeper understanding of the complexity of decision making within healthcare, to ensure I continually develop within my role to improve my own practice and support Ascenti to deliver excellence in patient care. Having gone through the online accreditation process myself, I know what is involved in order to demonstrate this advanced level of practice, and am excited to help others reach their full potential."
Chief Governance & Quality Officer, Joel Booth, added: "We are over the moon that Debbie has achieved Stage 3 accreditation and are so proud of the hard work and dedication she has displayed to reach this milestone. As part of the first cohort to complete the e-portfolio route to advanced practice, Debbie has helped pave the way for future clinicians to progress to the very top of their clinical practice, truly embodying our ‘pioneering’ value."
