Referral service information
Orthopaedic referrals
If Ascenti has referred you to Orthopaedics at the Royal Orthopaedic Hospital (ROH) and you have not been contacted within 6 weeks, please call 0121 685 4186.
If Ascenti has referred you to Orthopaedics at Worcester Royal Hospital (WRH) and you have not been contacted within 6 weeks, please call 01905 733939.
Podiatry referrals
If Ascenti has referred you to Podiatry and you have not been contacted in 8 weeks, please call 01386 502311.
Xray and Ultra Sound Scan (USS) referrals
If Ascenti has referred you for an X-ray at Kidderminster Treatment Centre (KTC) and you have not been contacted within 6 weeks, please call 01562 513260.
If Ascenti has referred you for an Ultra Sound Scan (USS) with Worcester Trust and you have not been contacted within 12 weeks, please call 01527 512099.
When to seek urgent medical attention from your GP
- Feeling excessively fatigued or unwell
- Unexplained weight loss
- Suicidal thoughts
- Significant physical trauma, like a fall
- Unremitting night pain (pain you can't ease)
- Lumps or bumps that your GP is unaware of
- New fever

Cauda Equina Syndrome (CES)
Common back pain
Many patients have a combination of back pain, leg pain, leg numbness and weakness.
These symptoms can be distressing for you but don’t necessarily require emergency medical attention.
A rare but serious back condition, Cauda Equina Syndrome, can lead to permanent damage or disability and will need to be seen by an Emergency Specialist Spinal Team.
CES warning signs
- Loss of feeling/pins and needles between your inner thighs or genitals
- Numbness in or around your back passage or buttocks
- Altered feeling when using toilet paper to wipe yourself
- Increasing difficulty when you try to urinate
- Leaking urine or recent need to use pads
- Not knowing when your bladder is either full or empty
- Inability to stop a bowel movement or leaking
- Loss of sensation when you pass a bowel motion
- Change in ability to achieve an erection or ejaculate
- Loss of sensation in genitals during sexual intercourse
If you experience any combination of the above symptoms seek a GP medical assessment urgently (same day appointment) and/or attend A&E.
