Employees vote for Macmillan as their 2022/23 charity partner

Our employees have been voting and it has been confirmed that Macmillan is our charity partner of the year for 2022/23.

Each year we ask our team to suggest and vote for a charity partner, and in recent years we have raised over £10,200 through traditional fundraising and challenges like 24-hour gameathons and the Three Peaks challenge.

This year Ascenti will be supporting Macmillan, one of the largest charities providing specialist health care, information, and financial support to people affected by cancer. As of right now, more than 3 million people are living with cancer in the UK. By 2030 this figure will rise to 4 million.

CEO, Stephanie Dobrikova, said: “We are proud to be partnering with Macmillan this year and that our staff suggested and voted for a charity that is close to many of our hearts.”

“The response from our staff has been fantastic and demonstrates the importance of our charity partnerships to our business. We aim to make a real difference for Macmillan, and we cannot wait to start our fundraising activities.”

Macmillan is 98% funded by voluntary donations, making this partnership with Ascenti crucial to ensure they can continue to deliver vital support for people living with cancer and campaign for better cancer care.

Lisa Sainsbury, Relationship Fundraising Manager at Macmillan Cancer Support, said: “Throughout 2021, the impact of coronavirus continued to hit people living with cancer hard. The ongoing disruption to health and care services meant that too many people struggled to rapidly access quality care and treatment.

“We are delighted that Ascenti has chosen to support Macmillan so that we can continue to do whatever it takes to ensure people with cancer get the support they need to live life as fully as they can, whether that’s with the physical impact of cancer, emotional support, financial advice or questions about treatment.”

We offer our employees with over 2 years’ continuous service one paid day per calendar year to take part in volunteering for a charity or to take part in an event to raise money and awareness for a charitable organisation.

On our intranet, we have created a Macmillan charity page to share fundraising events employees can get involved in, advertise individuals fundraising and share advice from Macmillan about supporting people living with cancer.

Also, to encourage employees to be part of the partnership with Macmillan we introduced the ‘Ascenti Society’. This society is open for all employees to join and is a great opportunity to share ideas about what Macmillan funding we can do in our teams, departments and locations.

We want to make this year one of our most successful fundraising opportunities by having an end target of £3,000.
